Lucky me

Last week was a beautiful week! We had a vacation from rain and cold weather and Audrey and I took full advantage of that. We started our week off with a trip to Sea World with Sarah and Zoey. I felt so fortunate to be at home with Audrey so I can enjoy each day with her. Thank you Mr. Fisk! I didn't know I would love being at home as much as I do; life is good! Audrey is 22 months now and she is talking more than ever. I can have a conversation with her now and I love it. We are having so much fun together and she is my little buddy. We went to the Science Museum on Tuesday, aquarium on Wednesday, play date/walk on Thursday with Brody and Friday we went to JW Tumbles for a class. She loved the tumbling class! They hang swings from the ceiling and the instructors blow bubbles at the kids while they are swinging. What's not to love about that? Audrey was able to ride in a dolphin swing and she loved it! We are looking forward to another fun week!

Slumber Party!

Last Friday, Audrey's cousin Mila came over to spend the night with us. Audrey LOVES Mila, or Mia. She can't say the "L" sound just yet, so she refers to her as Mia. Audrey was so excited about her coming over to play and we cranked up the level of excitement by taking them to Chuck E. Cheese. I remember having a birthday party there when I was a kid. They both had a blast and they ate pizza, played games, won tickets etc. Audrey could barely reach any of the games, but she had fun watching Mila play. We went to Yogurtland and then headed home for some rest and a movie. It was Audrey's first slumber party and she is so excited to have shared that with her Mia! The next day we went to one of our favorite spots, Con Pane, and enjoyed a walk at Shelter Island and played on the swings.

To Brush or not to Brush.

Audrey has a pretty consistent nighttime routine and part of that includes brushing her teeth. We usually tackle that while she's in the tub. She is not a big fan and when we give her the toothbrush and ask her to do it herself, she places the toothbrush in her mouth for a brief second, then hands it back to me. We sing songs about brushing teeth and she has watched us both brush our teeth, but she still is not convinced that this is an important task. Scott's latest idea involved her bath toys. She has a huge tub filled with various animals and he thought that if she brushed each of their teeth, she would be more inclined to brush hers. It works, but now instead of this being a 5 minute task it is more like 15 minutes. It takes a long time to brush all of their teeth and she really wants them to be clean. I miss the days where children brushed their teeth out of fear, just to avoid the cavity creeps. Remember this:

Happy New Year!

Audrey was recently selected to be a model for Gap's spring 2010 campaign and we have been hoping to find a photo of her somewhere. I just looked on their site today and found her! We are so proud and excited! Check it out here:

A Very Happy Holiday!

We really enjoyed Christmas this year with our family and friends! We celebrated early with Scott's family in Walnut and were surprised when his brother Steve and family drove from North Carolina to celebrate with us. It was so exciting to see them and for Audrey to spend time with her cousins and Aunt whom she had never met. We really want her to be surrounded by family and it has been great spending time with them.

We hosted a Christmas eve celebration with my family and our friends, Jeff and Lisa. It was so great listening to Christmas music and enjoying some quality time with our loved ones. We spent Christmas morning watching Audrey open gifts and play with the tissue paper; maybe next year she will like her presents too. Later that day we went to my grandma's house to see my granny, mom and aunt Wendy. Audrey had a blast running around the house in her favorite tutu like she owned the place. Finally we went north the day after Christmas to see Audrey's grandparents. We surprised them with the Fisk's arrival, since they had no idea that Steve and his family were in town. We all enjoyed a picnic in Laguna Beach and played till we were wiped out. We hope you all enjoyed your holiday too!

Don't call it a comeback!

Audrey was sick for almost 2 weeks, but she is back to her lively self. We have been on a few play dates with her friends and she was so excited to be around other kids again. We have been preparing for the holidays by introducing her to Santa. She saw him at the mall and we had planned to get her first photo with him, but she thought it was best to admire him from afar. She clung on to me so tight that it actually hurt. I didn't want to force a photo, so we'll have to try again next year. Audrey loves Christmas lights and we have been going to Garrison Street in Point Loma to see all of the lights, decorations, etc. These people are not messing around! There are so many lights and it gets bigger each year. I have included some photos below, but you should really go and see them for yourself.

Little one down!

For the last few days Audrey has been sick and she is not sleeping. This is only the 3rd time that she has been sick, but it is by far the worst. She has had a fever, congestion, cough, runny nose, etc., and it is hard to see her so unhappy. Instead of being happy and smiling, she is sad and crying. We took her to the doctor today and we are doing everything we should be doing, so now we just have to wait it out. These last few days have been rough on all of us, and we hope she is back to her happy self soon. We have seen a completely different side of our little one. She has been irritable and demanding and even throwing tantrums. I remember seeing kids in stores, restaurants etc., and seeing their parents dreadful expression while their child does that lifeless melting thing, and now my little Audrey is doing it. I hope that is not here to stay.
